Summary:
The Broadcast Media Associate is a cross-functional role supporting on-air presentation, content preparation, and broadcast accuracy across Master Control, Production, and Traffic. The position is responsible for monitoring automated playback, reviewing broadcast logs, and supporting reliable on-air execution, while also contributing to editing, post-production, and traffic-related workflows as needed.
Master Control Responsibilities (In Addition to Standard MCR Duties):
● Continuously monitor and maintain automation to ensure uninterrupted on-air playback during scheduled Master Control shifts, while supporting assigned Traffic and Production tasks as workload permits.
● Proof and verify the full automation log for the upcoming broadcast day(s) ensuring playlists are fully prepared for reliable overnight and unattended operation.
● Coordinate with content partners to ensure timely delivery of scheduled assets confirming all weekend programming is received, ingested, scheduled, and accounted for.
● Maintain and develop working knowledge of automation, transcoding, and delivery systems to assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution as needed.
● Communicate log changes, asset issues, and on-air concerns clearly with Traffic, Production, and Engineering and supervisory staff as needed.
Production Responsibilities include:
● Perform editing assignments as delegated, including promotional campaigns, partner spots, memorial spots, short-form social media content, and website-related tasks and uploads as assigned.
● Assist in gathering, organizing, and preparing content for promotional assets that require routine updates.
● Prepare and manage Close Captioning for assigned programming.
● Become familiar with all aspects of the production department and provide support as scheduling and workload permit.
Traffic Responsibilities include:
● Train with the traffic department to become familiar/competent to assist in: ○ Creation and preparation of broadcast logs.
○ Input program and spot data accurately into ProTrack and identification and resolution of discrepancies affecting logs or billing.
○ Replacement, rotation, and flighting of spots within ProTrack.
○ Update spot substitution list regularly as directed
Requirements:
● Prior experience in broadcast television master control, &/or traffic/production workflows preferred.
● Demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar systems independently through documentation, training resources, and self-guided research.
● Ability to learn and operate multiple systems simultaneously in a fast-paced broadcast environment
● Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and adaptability in a dynamic workflow.
● A flexible schedule to work shifts and occasional holidays, or alternate shifts as needed.
● Working knowledge of broadcast computer-based systems including Crispin Automation, Adobe, ProTrack, Gmail, and web-based tools, is preferred.
What we’ll offer the successful candidate
● This position includes cross-department training where appropriate, with opportunities to expand technical and creative skills across Master Control, Production, and Traffic.
● Regular shifts will be Monday through Thursday 4p - 11p, Friday 3p - 11pm
● Starting pay is $17.00 per hour, with a $0.50 per hour increase after 90 days, contingent upon satisfactory performance.
